Summer 2020 STEM Programs
Engineers in Training
Students Entering 1st - 4th Grade
July 6-10, 2:15-3:15, $50
Our youngest students begin exploring the most fundamental physics, construction and engineering concepts. They develop dexterity, perseverance and collaboration skills through play! At the same time, with every task they accomplish, they're earning points toward building toys they can take home!
Robotics
Students Entering 3rd or 4th Grade
July 6-10, 11:00-12:00, $50
Students use the Lego Education WeDo construction sets to build and program working robots with motors and sensors. They'll learn basic principles of mechanics and block-coding logic, AND they'll take home a colorful and engaging robotics book for summer reading!
Chemistry
Students Entering 3rd or 4th Grade
July 13-17, 11:00-12:00, $50
Students perform a variety of experiments and observe exciting demonstrations while learning about matter, atoms, molecules and chemical reactions. This course includes a chemistry coloring book to help them visualize the science of elemental interactions we can't see!
Art Fundamentals
Students Entering 3rd - 5th Grades
July 13-17, 1:00-2:15, $50
Electricity
Students explore line, shape and color with graphite, acrylic paints and modeling clay. We'll provide the professional artist and all of the materials. You provide the kid!
Students Entering 3rd or 4th Grade
July 20-24, 11:00-12:00, $50
Students explore the basics of electricity by constructing something new every day - circuits, motors, electromagnets and more! Each participant receives a hard-cover copy of How Does My House Work, which explains the behind-the-scenes operation of the energy and machines at work in our homes!
Rocket Science
Students Entering 3rd or 4th Grade
July 27-31, 11:00-12:00, $50
Students learn basic principles of rocket science while constructing different rockets every day! Every kid will build and keep their very own stomp rocket launcher. A Little Engineers: Space and Rockets coloring book is included!
Pneumatics
Students Entering 5th or 6th Grade
July 6-10, 1:00-2:00, $50
Students build working pneumatic systems (including an air compressor) with Lego Education bricks and pumps. They'll finish the week by making air-powered ball cannons!
Drones
Students Entering 5th or 6th Grade
July 13-17, 1:00-2:00, $50
Students design, construct, control and crash Lego Drones while learning the physics of flight! NEW THIS SUMMER!
Art Fundamentals
Students Entering 6th - 8th Grades
July 13-17, 2:30-3:45, $50
Students explore line, shape and color with graphite, acrylic paints and modeling clay. We'll provide the professional artist and all of the materials. You provide the kid!
Robotics
Students Entering 5th or 6th Grade
July 20-24, 1:00-2:00, $50
Students build Lego WeDo 2.0 robots with motors and sensors. Using a block-coding system, they program their bots to achieve a variety of challenging tasks. Along the way, they'll learn, collaboration, persistence and logical thinking!
Battle Bots
Students Entering 5th or 6th Grade
July 27-31, 1:00-2:00, $50
Students build and customize Lego RC bots to play capture-the-flag! They'l learn about gear ratio and friction as they attempt to out-maneuver other robots on a ramp-laden playing field! NEW THIS SUMMER!
Coding
Students Entering 5th or 6th Grade
Tuesday's & Thursday's in July, 4:00-5:00
Students program the Sphero SPRK+ using a variety of methods: drawing, block, programming and Javascript text. This is an incredibly fun way to introduce computer science to the next generation of programmers! NEW THIS SUMMER! This program is FREE! Thank you to G2X Energy for purchasing the equipment and paying for 8
students to participate!
Battle Bots
Students Entering 7th - 12th Grades
July 13-17, 2:15-3:30, $60
Definitely the crowd favorite - students build, customize and battle RC Lego Technic robots designed by our very own people at The Well! Students will learn how to manage weight, leverage, gearing and friction as they attempt to disable their opponent!
Robotics
Students Entering 7th - 12th Grades
July 20-24 2:15-3:30, $60
Students build Lego EV3 robots with motors and sensors. Using a more advanced block-coding system, they'll program their robots to navigate The Maze, designed and constructed by our people at The Well! This is a great opportunity for students to become familiar with the EV3 system prior to participating in our competition robotics program during the school year!
Drones
Students Entering 7th or 8th Grade
July 27-31 Grades 2:15-3:30, $60
New this summer! Students design, construct, control and crash Lego Drones while learning the physics of flight! NEW THIS SUMMER!

This year's summer programs have been sponsored in part by Xcel Energy. We are so incredibly grateful for their partnership and their and investment back into our community!
