Drawing

Drawing and Painting from Observation

Life-Long Learners Ages 18 to 108

Monday's in June, 5:15-6:15, $50

Students use graphite pencils and acrylic paint while learning the skills required to draw and paint real-life objects.  Beginners are welcome.  We provide the professional artist and the supplies!

Circus Science!

Students 3yrs - Entering Grade 2

Wednesday June 8, 11:00 - 12:15, $15

Your kid engineer will explore the science of the circus!  They'll choose a popcorn or cotton candy craft and then conduct three experiments to see chemistry, engineering and physics in action: dancing popcorn kernels, high-wire animals, and canon-shot daredevils!  Inspiration and imagination, oh my!  

Moms and / or dads with kiddos younger than kinder stay to help and enjoy the fun!

Ice Cream!

Students 3yrs - Entering Grade 2

Wednesday, July 13, 11:00 - 12:15, $15

Your little chemist will spend an exciting hour enjoying the science surrounding their favorite summer treat!  They'll craft their name out of paper ice cream scoops and then engineer scoops out of rectangles to take home and give to a loved one.  And of course, they'll explore the chemistry and TASTE of delicious ice cream that they've made themselves!  

Moms and / or dads with kiddos younger than kinder stay to help and enjoy the fun!

Pirates & Mermaids

Students 3yrs - Entering Grade 2

Wednesday, August 3, 11:00 - 12:15, $15

Your future aquatic explorer will choose a mermaid tail or pirate ship to craft.  Then, they'll engineer a pirate treasure boat to float on still waters and survive stormy seas!  Adventures in buoyancy will continue with diving and surfacing mermaids until finally we seek out and find buried treasure!  

Moms and / or dads with kiddos younger than kinder stay to help and enjoy the fun!

Introduction to Computer Programming

Students Entering Grades 3-4

Every Monday and Wednesday this Summer, June 6 - August 10,  (Except July 4),19Hrs, 5:15-6:15, $200

Through a healthy combination of interactive group activities and online coding games, students learn the logical sequencing which underlays programming languages.  After this class, students will be ready for the next step:  JavaScript!  

Full and Partial Scholarships are available, made possible by a grant from ProMan.  We're thankful for their partnership and investment in the future of our kids!

Computer Programming - JavaScript

Students Entering Grades 5-8

Every Tuesday and Thursday this Summer, June 7 - August 11,  20Hrs, 5:15-6:15, $200

Students program the Sphero SPRK+ Robot using a variety of programming methods: drawing, block and then JavaScript text.  Then, they'll build on what they've learned to create their own interactive animations!

Introduction to Web Design - HTML, CSS and JavaScript

Students Entering Grades 9-12

Every Monday and Wednesday this Summer, June 6 - August 10,  (Except July 4),19Hrs, 6:15-7:15, $200

Students learn the basics of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.  They'll use these three programming languages in concert to create a functioning website they can keep and update for years to come!

Introduction to Electronics - Arduino 

Students Entering Grades 9-12

Every Monday this Summer (Except July 4th), 5:15-6:15 June 6 - August 8 (9 Hours), $100

Students build and program new electronics projects every week using circuit boards and Arduino software.  They'll explore the interaction between the digital and the physical world as they experiment with lights, motors, sensors, speakers, GPS units, cameras and more!  Full and Partial Scholarships are available, made possible by a grant from ProMan.  We're thankful for their partnership and investment in the future of our kids!

Entering Grades 3-4 - Medieval Machines 

Students learn about SIMPLE MACHINES in the coolest way:  building catapults, trebuchets, ballistae and battering rams with LEGO's and then testing them in battle!

Students learn the physics of drone flight, complete obstacle courses, improve their RC skills, and learn block programming with our DJI Tello Drones!

Students build and modify their own LEGO Technic RC bots to compete in the Roboctagon! They'll learn loads of mechanics and physics concepts as they test their improvements in the arena!

June 14, 15 & 16, 1:00-2:30, $50

Entering Grades 3-4 - Robotics

Students use the Lego Education WeDo construction sets to build and program working robots with motors and sensors.  They'll learn basic principles of mechanics and block-coding logic, AND they'll take home a colorful and engaging robotics book for summer reading!

Entering Grades 5-6 - Pneumatics

Students build working pneumatic systems (including an air compressor) with LEGO Education bricks and pumps.  They'll finish the week by making air-powered marshmallow cannons!

Students learn the physics of drone flight, complete obstacle courses, improve their RC skills, and learn block programming with our DJI Tello Drones!

Week 3 Mini-Camps

June 21, 22 & 23, 1:00-2:30, $50

Entering Grades 3-4 - Paper Airplanes

Students learn the physics of flight and build a wide variety of gliders, acrobats and bombers!  They'll build and experiment with mechanized launchers!  AND, every kiddo will take home a paper airplane activity book, so the fun can continue after camp!

Entering Grades 5-7 - Battle Bots

Students build and customize LEGO RC bots to play capture-the-flag!  They'll learn about gear ratio, friction and other mechanical concepts as they attempt to out-maneuver other robots on an obstacle-laden playing field!

Students explore line, shape and color with graphite, acrylic paints and modeling clay.  We'll provide the professional artist and all of the materials.  You provide the future Picasso!

Week 4 Mini-Camps

June 28, 29 & 30, 1:00-2:30, $50

Entering Grades 3-4 - Chemistry

Students perform a variety of experiments and observe exciting demonstrations while learning about matter, atoms, molecules and chemical reactions.  This course includes a chemistry coloring book to help them visualize the science of elemental interactions we can't see!

Students learn to design their own 3D projects using TINKERCAD.  They'll begin exploring the limitations and workarounds associated with 3-D printing and sharpen their problem-solving skills to make their ideas become reality using our 3-D printers!

Students build with the brand-new LEGO SPIKE system.  They'll use a block-coding system to program their robots' motors and sensors to achieve a variety of challenging tasks.  Along the way, they'll learn, collaboration, persistence and logical thinking!

Beginner's welcome!  Students learn to play one of the world's oldest and most popular strategy games.  Before the week is over, they'll know how all the pieces move, have a basic game strategy and be able to employ multiple game-enhancing tactics.

Entering Grades 3-4 - Rocket Science

Students learn basic principles of rocket science while constructing a different rocket every day!  A Little Engineers: Space and Rockets coloring book is included!

Entering Grades 3-4 - Electricity

Students explore the basics of electricity by constructing something new every day - circuits, motors, electromagnets and more!  Each participant receives a hard-cover copy of How Does My House Work, which explains the behind-the-scenes operation of the energy and machines at work in our homes!

July 26, 27 & 28, 1:00-2:30, $50

Entering Grades 3-4 - Robotics

Students build and modify their own LEGO dragsters.  They'll learn the mechanics of gearing, the physics of optimal tire size, and how to manage weight and friction as they compete to make their car as fast as possible!

Students learn to design their own 3D projects using TINKERCAD.  They'll begin exploring the limitations and workarounds associated with 3-D printing and sharpen their problem-solving skills to make their ideas become reality using our 3-D printers!

August 2, 3 & 4, 1:00-2:30, $50

Entering Grades 3-4 - Skyscraper Engineering  

Students construct their own towers using geometric patterns of colorful gum drops and skewers.  They'll test the strength of their creations on The Well's earthquake simulator to see how long they can stand!
